WELLNESS RESOURCES
Below is a list of resources that I have either personally experienced or have vetted in another way. Many of them, utlized by members of the recovery community have been found to be helpful for whatever you are in recovery from. None of these are paid endorsements.

I read Tommy Rosen's book and have been following Recovery 2.0 since the early 2000's. I've shared his teachings with groups and individuals, attended and shared his on-line conferences. I recruited him to be a keynote speaker and workshop presenter at the NYS Recovery Conference in 2016. I recently attended a workshop and Kundalini Yoga class with him at the CCAR Multiple Pathways conference in 2024. Tommy is the real deal - a man in long term recovery who is authentic and dedicated to a path of discovery!

I was introduced to Dr. Dispenza's work many years ago, attended an advanced retreat in Cancun in 2024 and participate in on-line healing meditation groups utilizing his methods. I've read "You are the placebo" and "Breaking the habit of being yourself", both scientific explanations of how changing thoughts and using meditation can be life enhancing.

The Hoffman Process is a week long group psycho spiritual retreat. Individual pre-work explores unhealthy patterns in your life and then you work on them through group experiences, individual processing and one-on-one coaching. It is an intense undertaking that had been recommended to me for decades. I went when I was ready to let go. It was also recommended that you give yourself some time to integrate before returning to your life. After leaving "The Process" I felt more love, connection to myself and others than ever before.

Don't knock it til you try it. Yes, I drank the cool aid on this one. I've been using essential oils and custom blending remedies for decades. I use do Terra brand because the aromas are the most authentic, pure and pleasing. their company is run by Mormons, they give back to the community and have highy ethical practices. The compensation plan is not bad either. I'm not getting rich but I am get the products I would typically buy at the health food store anyway for free every month.

I had the privilege of attending an Ayahuasca retreat at The Temple of the Way of Light, lead by Dr. Gabor Mate in 2019. I recruited him to speak on Compassion Fatigue at the NYS Recovery Conference in 2021. In 2024 I attended his on-line Compassionate Inquiry training. What an amazing experience! I'm in the middle of The Myth of Normal now, read When the Body says No and would say that In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts is one of the most compassionate and eloquent views on addiction I've ever read.

Rev. Shane Ash, the former spiritual director at St. Joe's in Saranc Lake has created a wellness program for health care workers that includes a weekend retreat in the Adirondak Mountains and a year long follow up with spiritual mentorship and a facilitated group learning collaborative. To say we are aligned is an understatement! Check out his blog here.

Neuro Feedback
For local resources check out Mind Matters. I did a brain map withm them last year and have been doing weekly, then bi weekly sessions. I have successfully retrained my brain to decrease the frequency, duration and intensity of my anxiety/trauma responses to a level that are more than manageable. Sessions are very relaxing. This modality has been a life changer for me.

Somatic Experiencing
Another modality that has been extremely helpful to me is Somatic work. Understanding my nervous system and learning practical tools to regulate myself has been very helpful as well. Check out my practitioner: Alison Mewer Cowan in Saratoga Springs, NY
